Marc Jacobs Pride

“Ballroom becomes a vehicle to give love and support and, as it always has done, to create moments of escape and fantasy from a world that is still persecuting and discriminating against the queer community.” — Dazed

Continuing the longstanding work with the brand, Ryan partnered with Marc Jacobs to bring their message of acceptance and self-expression to life over the course of several Pride campaigns and initiatives, beginning in 2022 with portraits and storytelling by Juergen Teller and Steve Mackey.

In 2023, a social-first documentary-style campaign filmed at The Center in New York brought the vibrant energy and rich history of New York's ballroom scene to the forefront just in time for Pride. Tapping into the cultural renaissance of ballroom culture, a trio of icons and newcomers to the scene –– Simone Tisci, SmokiiJai Jacobs of The House of Marc Jacobs, and Venus Balenciaga shared their stories and what moves them.

The following year, the brand would reaffirm it’s longstanding commitment to The Center, hosting a ball that put the spotlight on the community inside the The Center’s 13th Street space. A multi-category ballroom competition kicked off the night before the dance floor opened up to include everyone’s vibrant movement.

Augustinus Bader The One

To mark the 5th anniversary of Augustinus Bader's cult-favorite skincare line, Ryan created a flexible, 360 campaign –– cementing the brand's singular place in the beauty industry. Built upon an aspirational yet accessible brand manifesto, the narrative was amplified across all marketing touchpoints — from social to out-of-home billboards, on the street activations with Sephora to Heathrow.

Beyond the campaign, a series of testimonials from industry experts and longtime brand advocates like Karla Welch, Allure’s Michelle Lee, and British Vogue’s Sarah Harris furthered the platform’s authentic, emotionally resonant narrative through a personal lens.

Giorgio Armani Lip Power

Working closely with Armani Beauty and L'Oréal teams, Ryan lead the creative direction, design and development an immersive virtual event, custom website, user experience, event programming, and casting to support the product launch of Lip Power across digital touchpoints.

Attendees were ushered through a series of tightly curated, interactive experiences on the path to discovery their own definition of power. The event features a mixture of live and pre-recorded medications on power, including a beauty masterclass with celebrity makeup artist Molly R. Stern, an expressive dance performance by acclaimed choreographers and former principal ballerina at the New York City Ballet, Lauren Lovette, and an intimate roundtable discussion on empowerment featuring Barbara Palvin, Lauren Lovette, Meena Harris, and Cleo Wade.

Google Store

For the opening of the first ever Google Store, Ryan worked with the Google team to create and install a walkable version of Google Maps in the streets of New York’s Meatpacking District. To recreate the icons native to Google Maps, the out-of-home installation embraced oversized inflatables as directional blue dots with an attention-grabbing red destination pin placed outside of the flagship store indicating that you have arrived.

Beyond the experiential activation, Ryan consulted with Google on their role within the local Chelsea community, authentic engagement possibilities, and ways to become a better neighbor. This lead to a number of intimate actionable long-term programs by the company, from amplifying local businesses on social during the Tribeca Film Festiva to guided neighborhood photo walks with Google Pixel ambassadors.

Troye Sivan Easy

In late 2020, Troye Sivan released a remix of his track Easy, enlisting Mark Ronson as producer, with additional vocals by Kacey Musgraves. Filmed in Nashville, the accompanying video tells a modern Bonnie and Clyde story of two heartbroken people on the run, escaping themselves as they tear through dimly lit motel rooms, bars, and city streets. Vogue called it “a dive bar dream.”

Makeup By Mario Identity & Packaging

Building a brand from the ground up for Mario Dedivanovic, dubbed “the makeup artist at ground zero of internet beauty culture” by The New Yorker, Ryan worked firsthand with the founder on a flexible identity system inspired by space age modernism and the artist’s own makeup kit and the need for simplicity and clarity in his fast-paced practice. Launched with a focus on the eyes first, Makeup By Mario debuted at Sephora exactly 20 years after he started his first job in beauty, working at a Sephora store in Manhattan.

Justin Bieber Yummy

To mark the release of Justin Bieber’s fifth studio album, Changes, Ryan teamed up with director Bardia Zeinali to create an over-the-top indulgent video for the lead single, “Yummy”. In place of sexual innuendo, the video transports Bieber to a 1980’s Miami inspired restaurant interior for an outlandish meal alongside a strange cast of dinner guests. To date, the video has over 800M views on YouTube.

In conversation with Billboard, chef Matty
Matheson lauded the video’s “nostalgic” vibe, reminding him of the 1950s Jello-O mold era: “It’s such an iconic time where people would show up to someone’s house with a Jell-O mold with hot dogs in it and oddly put anything in Jell-O to make these sweet and savory molds. It’s all very picturesque and fake grand, all presentation, all sizzle, no steak, all filler, which is why the video is cute.”

Ariana Grande In My Head

Ponytails sway in formation. Thigh-high boots perform complex choreography divorced from the body. Created to accompany Ariana Grande's 2019 Vogue cover, “In My Head” presents a complex glimpse into the minds of one of today’s preeminent pop icons.

Alone onscreen and without any elaborate scenery, Ryan worked with director Bardia Zeinali to capture the creative claustrophobia of being Ariana Grande — a glossy, surreal vision of a pop star reduced to her most iconic features.

Vogue Camp! The Movie

On the occasion of 2019’s Met Gala and it’s theme Camp: Notes on Fashion, Ryan partnered with Vogue and director Bardia Zeinali to craft an over-the-top homage to the history of camp. Envisioning the halls of the Metropolitan Museum of Art as varied sets of beloved genre classics –– paying homage to films such as Death Becomes Her, Clue, and Rocky Horror Picture Show.

Filmed, edited, and released on social in real-time, Camp! delivered a non-linear, star-studded narrative, providing an irreverent glimpse into the most exclusive fashion event of the year.
